Content creation is exploding globally. The film and television industry supports 2.6 million jobs and pays $177B+ in wages per year in the U.S. alone. But the industry can’t keep up, because the way that stories are brought to life are outdated, inefficient, arduous, completely insular and opaque.  

Creating content is a highly complicated, expensive, collaborative, logistically challenging process that requires bringing hundreds of highly skilled independent contractors together in a distant location for a period of time that still operates using paper, PDFs, email, and software from 1999. It’s a network-driven industry, with no online network. It’s an industry that desperately needs more diversity and people in the workforce, but no one knows how to “break in”. Impact intends to change how the stories that shape our global culture get made.

The Role

Impact is bringing beautiful tools to an industry not used to having tools built for them.  As the Principal Product Manager you will be the product owner for the consumer facing, mobile first networking product serving the crew members who make the entertainment industry run.  We are still early, and this is an opportunity for an experienced PM to truly mold the user experience for our consumer side.  We are looking for someone with a strong eye for evaluating big bets, led by rigorous product discovery techniques, and able to manage stakeholders, engineering and design autonomously. The Principal PM will manage the process soup to nuts, including working with our GTM team to develop go-to-market strategies, evaluating success, and ensuring engineering resources are enabled to bring delightful product to our users


  • 5+ years of product experience, with at least some experience in consumer facing mobile product
  • 2+ years of product ownership experience, owning an entire customer segment or product domain
  • Rigorous product discovery techniques and a proven track record of evaluating new product ideas and leading them to successful outcomes
  • Strong collaborative nature working directly with engineers and managing cross departmental stakeholders, including the CEO or other Executives
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to evangelize new product to a new user base
  • Must have a strong command of data and data techniques, both qualitative and quantitative, and proven track record of evaluating product success based on data. SQL, Metabase, and/or Amplitude experience is a plus.
  • Experience with consumer marketplaces, communication tools or social networks is a major plus
  • Prior experience in an established, large product organization with an established product development process is a plus
  • Our team is based in LA, with the Head of Product based in SF. Experience working in a distributed fashion is a plus.  Ability to commit to Pacific Time hours, is a must.
